"The Learning Cycle" is the school wide Professional Development at Clear Vista School. This initiative focuses on improving the quality of student learning in WRPS. It looks at four areas:

1. Outcomes
2. Instruction
3. Assessment
4. Evaluation

At Clear Vista School teachers will continue to focus on the goals of the last three years: outcomes based instruction, using high yield teaching strategies and assessment for learning.

As well, the focus in 2009-2010 will be Student Engagement. Teachers will be examining strategies to create authentic engagement in their classrooms. Teachers want to create opportunities for students to be immersed in activities which are relevant and have meaning for the individual students.

The teachers at Clear Vista will have job embedded release time and half day PD opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues to plan instruction that increases the engagement level of their students. This high level of engagement will enhance the students' educational experience through active involvement in the learning process.
